Never Trump Republicans continue to either resign or lose their primary races.
Only two of ten Republicans who serve in the U.S House will remain after January after vocal Trump critics Peter Meijer (R-Mi.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) were defeated in their primaries this year.
Now, yet another high-profile Trump critic has announced that he intends to resign.
Senator Ben Sasse (R-Ne.) announced that he intends to retire before the end of the year on a radio show on Thursday.
He reportedly will take a job as the President of the University of Florida, according to NBC News.

Sasse was a frequent critic of President Trump and voted to convict the President in his second impeachment trial in the aftermath of the January 6th ‘Stop the Steal’ rally.
The Nebraska Republican Party rebuked Sasse after his vote to convict Trump, saying that it was ‘deeply disappointed’ with him.

Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., who frequently clashed with former President Donald Trump but won a second term in 2020, is expected to resign before the end of the year, a source familiar with the move confirmed to NBC News on Thursday.
Sasse is expected to exit the Senate to take a new job leading the University of Florida, the source said. The senator and the university confirmed that Sasse is in talks for the top job there after news broke on Thursday.
In a statement, Sasse called Florida “the most important institution in the nation’s most economically dynamic state.”
“Washington partisanship isn’t going to solve these workforce challenges new institutions and entrepreneurial communities are going to have to spearhead this work,” Sasse said. “If UF wants to go big, I’m excited about the wide range of opportunities.”
The news was first reported by KFAB talk radio host Ian Swanson, a former Sasse staffer, who opened his show Thursday by announcing that his former boss would soon be resigning to take a job in academia.
