The GOP finally successfully blocked the Democrats in its first filibuster of the Biden Administration.
The effort to open debate on a bill to create a commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol riot failed in the senate on Friday in a 54-35 vote.
60 votes were needed to move the bill forward.

The vote to overcome the filibuster was 54-35
But 60 yeas were necessary to end the filibuster.
All Democrats present voted yes.

B) Six Republicans voted to end the filibuster. They were Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Ben Sasse (R-NE) and Rob Portman (R-OH).

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was triggered and feared Friday’s filibuster may be the beginning of a trend of Republicans blocking other bills.
